As part of our ongoing commitment to the security and privacy of your data we have Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) in place to support you and your team.
What is MFA?
Simply, it's an extra step to confirm it's really you when logging in - you'll enter this code in addition to your password. This helps reduce risk from lost or stolen credentials and helps to keep your data secure.
Multi-factor authentication (MFA) is one of the easiest, most effective actions we can take to improve the security of your data. It’s no longer a ‘nice to have’ but a necessity.

When will I need to authenticate?
To ensure ongoing security of your account you will be required to re-authenticate once every 14 days. In addition, you will need to re-authenticate if you sign in from a new device or browser, clear your cookies, or use your browser's private mode.
Note: If you are new to the platform, you will be asked to authenticate the first time you sign into the platform after completing your profile setup.
Note: There is no need to re-authenticate when switching between your Portfolios if they are linked to the same user account.
How can I get my MFA code?
You can receive your MFA code via email or an authentication app (e.g. Authy, 1password, Microsoft Authenticator or Google Authenticator). The default setting is to send the MFA code via email.
MFA via email
After entering your email address and password you will be taken to a page requesting a temporary authentication code. Check your email and enter the code from it. Each MFA token lasts for 30 mins.
TIP! To generate a new authentication code, click 'Re-send email'.
TIP! If you can't see the email in your inbox, try refreshing your inbox and checking your spam folder just in case.
MFA via an authentication app
To set up MFA via an authentication app:
- Hover over the "My account" option in the top navigation bar, then click "My profile".
- Under security settings, the MFA section will tell you what your current MFA setting is. Click "Change to app based authentication".
- Follow the instructions on screen.
Note: You can only link one authentication app to your IAND account at a time.
Note: Authenticator apps refresh the code every 30 seconds, so make sure you have enough time to enter the code before it expires.
TIP! If you receive your MFA codes via an authenticator app and need to generate a new code, click 'Back to Log in' and re-enter your login details.
What happens if I enter the code incorrectly?
If you enter the code incorrectly 10 times, you will be locked out of your account. An email will be sent to your login email with a link to unlock your account immediately, or you can attempt to log in again after 1 hour.
What if I receive a MFA email unexpectedly?
Please contact support@iand.com to enable further investigation.
How do I change the way I get my MFA code?
If you've set up MFA via an authentication app and wish to switch back to email authentication:
To change back to email MFA:
- Hover over the "My account" option in the top navigation bar, then click "My profile".
- Under security settings, the MFA section will tell you what your current MFA setting is. Click "Change to email based authentication".
- Follow the instructions on screen.
Once you switch, you will get an email notification to confirm.
TIP! If you are logging in using an authentication app and want to send the code through to your email instead, click the "Click here" link under the 'Log in' button on the page where you first enter your MFA code to log into IAND. This will change your authentication method to email. You can change back at any time via your settings.
